WYPW Monthly Meet the Maker & Pop-up Gallery Shop – October Edition – Lisa Stubbs

Join us at West Yorkshire Print Workshop in Mirfield for our monthly Meet the Maker & Print Pop-Up Shop – a must-visit event for art lovers, printmakers, and collectors! This October, we celebrate block printing, featuring an exclusive showcase from our highlighted printmaker, Lisa Stubbs.

What to Expect

Our pop-up shop, running on the last Friday and Saturday of this Month and, is the perfect opportunity to browse and buy original handmade prints, framed artwork, printmaking supplies, and our Post Box Print Club subscription boxes.

Each month the event will feature a different artist, offering visitors a chance to watch live printmaking demonstrations, ask questions, and gain inspiration from experienced printmakers.

Meet the Maker: Lisa Stubbs

For this months Meet the Maker event, we’re excited to welcome Lisa Stubbs, a local Printmaker, Illustrator, Tutor and WYPW member living in the Holme Valley. She’s been freelancing for 30 years during which time she has created prints and cards for retailers and galleries, illustrated children’s picture books, designed packaging and soft toys and run a little online shop.

Lisa’s work is inspired by Pockets of time that are hard to describe, but feel good. Capturing feelings of being connected to nature, family,  friends,  the past, and to home and the nostalgia that creates. Lisa loves experimentation and play in the print process and to explore different techniques of expressing emotive narratives and childlike illustration. 

”I have been printmaking at WYPW for 15 years now and feel fortunate to have such wonderful facilities and support for my practice, and I look forward to sharing my work and process with you!”

 She explores a variety of techniques, including screenprinting, etching, drypoint, screen printing, and chine colle, with a strong focus on layered compositions and subtle colour palettes. Lisa will be demonstrating her skills & sharing techniques live by creating prints on the etching press.
Whether you’re an experienced printmaker or just starting out, this is a great opportunity to watch the process, ask questions, and get inspired.
