Susie Turner

Susie Turner works as a visual artist and educator with a specialism in Fine Art Printmaking. She graduated in Fine Art Printmaking from Cambridge School of Art and gained an MA in Visual Arts / Printmaking at Camberwell College of Art. Susie recently completed a PGCE at the Institute of Education, UCL and currently works as an Art Teacher in London.
Based in North Essex, much of Susie’s own work is inspired by concepts of nature and culture and human-environment relations. The local landscape is a constant source of visual ideas and she often works directly with objects ‘found’ and ‘made’. As well as encouraging the development of artists’ ideas through ‘print’ and supporting arts participation, Susie is keen to combine traditional methods with contemporary techniques. This has led her to explore the potential of Printmaking with Photopolymer Plates / Solarplate using sunlight and water. This technique allows direct engagement with objects of nature and accuracy in capturing detail. Solarplate is a new and time effective technique of printmaking, which offers versatility in image making combining photography, hand drawn imagery and found material.
