Bring your photographic images to life through photo-etching – transform them from high-contrast black and white photocopies into etching plates, add tone with aquatint, and then take the image further through inking and printing in multiple colours, and etching the plates further with line and added drawn marks.
You will be shown how to ‘water-slide’ the Photec photopolymer film onto the plate, expose the image and process it to be ready to etch. From here on in you will be treating the plate like an etching and learn aquatinting and biting the plate in copper sulphate to varying depths.

No previous experience necessary for this course, but it is an advantage to know a little about etching.
All course prices include basic materials such as inks, paper, tools and equipment. Other materials and printmaking papers will be available to buy during the course if you would like to try something a bit different, or take some materials home to try out.
After attending this course you can join our workshop as a member and continue to use our facilities to make and develop your own work. The sooner the better, as the longer you leave it the more you are likely to forget! If you join up within one month of attending the course you will receive a £5 discount. Find out more about the benefits of membership here.
