Description
Why not ditch the plastic this year and celebrate a handprinted Christmas? On this fun, hands-on workshop you will learn how to use and print with a gel plate, leaving with a range of printed papers suitable for making paper garlands, cards, gift tags or anything else you might fancy! There will be supported time in the workshop to craft some paper decorations too – all over hot drinks and mince pies!
As you create your patterned papers, you will use the gel-plate to explore the process of mono-print; investigating composition, colour, pattern and texture. Water-based inks are used and multiple colour prints will be explored from overlaying plates. Your designs can be as simple or as fancy as you like!
What on earth is a gel-plate? The plate itself is a flexible yet durable surface made of a thick single layer of polymer (completely vegan unlike the traditional gelatine gelli plates) and as it will be cleaned after each use, is completely reusable. This is a very playful technique which allows for lots of creativity and fun experimentation!
