Print fans, mark your calendars! We’re thrilled to invite you to Print Day in May—a two-day celebration of all things print at West Yorkshire Print Workshop, happening on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd May at our Mirfield HQ.
Whether you’re a seasoned printmaker, curious creative, or someone who just loves the smell of ink and paper, we’ve got a packed weekend of demos, open studios, hands-on fun, and a chance to connect with other print lovers. Even better, you can enjoy 10% off all course bookings made on the day, and if you sign up for membership during the event, you’ll receive a free induction—a perfect opportunity to dive right in!
Friday
Traditional printmaking and photography form the basis of Irena’s art, which takes inspiration from nature, light and the elements in both urban and rural surroundings.
Irena uses an array of techniques that include etching, solar plate, lino, screen-print, monotype and cyanotype. Often incorporating photographic elements to produce both two and three dimensional work, prints are incorporated into book arts, book covers and lampshades.
Irena will be demonstrating intaglio printing live, using solar plate etchings of natural plants and photographic images, experimenting with a range of papers and she’ll be on hand to talk about her process, inspirations, and the pieces featured in our Pop-Up Maker Shop.
Browse beautiful prints, shop handmade works, enjoy a cuppa, and soak up the creative atmosphere.

On Saturday you’ll get a chance to wander the studios, peek into working spaces, and discover the amazing versatility of printmaking through hands-on activities and expert demos.

Explore a captivating hybrid technique where photo emulsion meets intaglio. Learn how photographic images can be exposed onto paper and printed like traditional etchings. A must-see for printmakers curious about expanding their skill set.

‘Have a Go’ Activity: Lego Dot Printing

Yes, you read that right—Lego printing! Using baseplates and dots, you’ll create bold, geometric patterns and learn how to ink and print your designs. This playful, family-friendly activity is pure joy for creatives of all ages.

Screen-Print Demo: The Repeated Image
